I recently made a deposit via the ATM for an insurance check that was issued to my fiance. He had signed the check over to me and I was to replace the items that we had lost during a fire with the check. The policy which I was not aware of, since I had opened this account when they were originally Roosevelt bank was that you could not deposit a third party check through the ATM, it had to be done inside a branch with both parties present.
My problem is not that they reversed the deposit but that in the mean time the hold they had put on the check was also still being applied. I now show that my account is available a huge negative but my actual balance is still positive. I had pending transactions that were returned because of something that they obviously were at fault for. How do you put a hold on the amount of the check and take the money back? I can only imagine the numerous fees that will take place tomorrow since today is a holiday and there is nothing they can do. I even had the customer service department tell me that I must have calculated my account wrong that they were sure this was not their error. After speaking to a friend who use to work for the bank she had told me what the problem most likely was. After adding up the item twice and subtracting from my balance it was the amount that I was showing overdrawn. I am not yet sure what the outcome will be but after numerous problems with this bank I will definitely be going elsewhere to bank after this is settled.
