An online banking error cost me an insane snowballing landslide of overdraft fees. I had a recurring automated bill payment set up, and canceled one because the payment was not owed. I then payed another bill. The website told me the payment was canceled, but it wasn't. I called and explained what happened, but the bank basically accused me of lying and said "too bad". The thing that drove me the most bonkers in the whole thing, was the way payments were manipulated, held, and run through to ensure the maximum amount of fees. For example - a $1.00 Pay Pal charge kept getting moved and held over, over a 3-4 day span. The charge was supposed to have come out of my account at least 4 days prior to the error!

I don't even want to think about this anymore because I was truly hurt financially over this and am a single mom with a family to support. I went to 1st Tennesee, and when I told them I was fiiring 5th/3rd and began asking about fees the bank officer laughed and shook his head. He said they were notorious for raping consumers with fees - then paid me $100 to open an account! 1st Tennessee rocks. Anybody considering an account with 5th 3rd should bail. I am interested in filing suit if such an action were to take place... This experience has been one of the most ludicrous of my life. They really shouldn't be allowed to continue to get away with this.
