Household called me at work on 9 to pay past due balance of 702.72. I told them over the phone that I did not have that amount. Therefore, they offer me a settlement option of lesser amount and adding to the fact my credit record will be affected negatively.
I agreed. They offer the settlement for 575.20. I sent the payment of $575.20 and that was the closure of HH account - I thought.
On the next month statement, when I opened it, I was expecting to see zero balance due. However, far from the truth. I called Household and said to their representative that we (Household and myself) agreed to a settlement for the amount of $575.20 but yet on the statement I owed 259.23. They said to me that they would fix the problem. $575.20 was posted on9/15 on the statement.
Around July 10, I got a mail from Bauer, Gravel, Farnham, Nuovo Attorney's at Law from Burlington, VT, 5402 representing Green Mountain Bureau LLC as asignee of Household Bank stating that I owed to Household Bank $849.95, pricipal amt owed $614.42.
I have the statment where I wrote "Has been Settled" and the posted amount of $575.20.
I've complied with the settlement. Household Bank have breached their offer of settlement. This is a very dishonest action trying to ripoof customers.
