Replacement Card Warning

I have a current Citicard Mastercard Platinum Select card with a zero balance which I have not used in a while.

Citicard sent me notice that they would automatically send me a new replacement card (new account number, new card) and terminate my old Mastercard Platinum Select account. The new account would have a lower interest rate. Sounds good, except:

A) You have to call to opt out of the replacement account, not to accept.

B) The new account doesnot have any on line account ability to view, pay, etc.

C) All payments have to be done by mail! Oh, yes, by the way... If you are ever late with the minimum payment, all Citicard accounts in your name go to 29 % interest.

For those of us who travel, if you are out of town when the letter comes and you do not return by the time the new card is mailed, you have a new account.

Further, if you are out of town and you have balance, you can't set up a recurring payment for the card because Citicard does not have on line account access or payment.

Please be WARNED. If you take this account offer, you are now forced back to pre-internet days and forced to do business by mail and the possibility of your account being paid late increases - especially if you travel.

Citicard should be ashamed for this action, which I am sure will send many people into a default interest rate.
