BEWARE Of The Overdraft Welcome to Bank of America, how can we torture you today?

BANK OF AMERICA HAS FOUND YET ANOTHER WAY TO PUNISH ITS CUSTOMERS - They take the largest dollar amount transaction from your account first... Which increases your chance of incurring multiple overdrafts!

I have changed to Icon bank in Houston Texas - where I'm treated like a human.

Like several other consumers I have read about online, I too am at my wits end with these people and their strong arm tactics. Once upon a time, I dealt with a bank that knew a little bit about customer service, it was B of A and things were good. I could get an actual person on the phone if needed and worked things out like gentelmen.
About a year and a half ago that changed... I believe that something in the corporate DNA of B of A was altered and all associates were instructed to become surly, impatient, dickheads. About the same time, they changed the way items appear on your online statement. Before the change, items payed with their billpay would be reflected in your balance the day the payment was made. Now it doesn't show until the day it is delivered (even though many are electronic transactions) I'm not an accountant, but I'm no caveman either (sorry Geico guys) what was once pretty clear has now become a challenge and looking back I have payed in excess of $1800 in fees.

Enough ranting, here are the facts-
I learned the other day (the hard way) that when more than one item posts to your checking account in the same day, they apply the LARGEST one first and work their way down to the smallest. I had a busy weekend last week and in addition to 12 scheduled online billpay payments (which they encourage you to use) posting on Monday the 14th, 4 debits and one check posted. I knew that when I wrote the check to a car dealer on Sunday for 500 bucks that I didn't have enough in the account to cover it and figured I could deposit money before it hit my account. Well I planned that wrong and my deposit went in after the cutoff. Since my billpay stuff and debits all happened before the large check I should have had one overdraft and I am fine with that.

Instead, the bastards took out the largest amount first which set off a chain reaction that resulted in 9 overdrafts and 5 fees. I truly believe that this is done in order to inflict maximum damage to the customer and to increase their revenues. I had a hard enough time digesting the three dollar burger I bought at McDonalds with my debit card, when I learned that it now cost me $38... It gave me diarhea.

A call placed to B of A "customer care" put me in touch with some smartass kid who informed me that there is something called a checkbook register and that he would be happy to mail one to me. And by the way, the fees were irreversable.in fact if you do get someone to reverse a fee for you, and then ask someone else about reversing more... You are told that the case is closed and cannot be reopened. That sounds like BS to me...

How can Bank of America get away with this? It must be illegal, if there is a class action lawsuit somewhere let me know and I'm in!
