Wells Fargo put me through this hell for about 8 months over a 1% decrease on the refinancing of my auto loan, which by the way they held the title on. They said they couldn't even do that due to the Patriot Act, which by the way was put in place to deal with the problem of money laundering not auto refinancing. We filed a complaint with the Office of the Comptroller, a division of the federal government, and was informed by them that they couldn't make the bank go against their policies, but we could take them to court on our own. This told me that they did believe what Wells Fargo was pulling on me was against the law. We then took it to the State of California's Attorney Generals office, they told us, they cannot prosecute on our behalf but also mentioned us filing a lawsuit. They will, however, keep the complaint in their file for use in the near future. I believe it is inevidible that they will do something, since Wells Fargo cannot even have there auto financing headquarters in California now due to past issues with them.
Well now for the good news, I got my auto refinanced through a local Credit Union, at 5% less interest. My payments have almost been cut in half. And I did a transfer on my credit card that I also held at Wells Fargo, so I am totally finished with them and now dealing with a reputable institution. Do what you must to get away from Wells Fargo!!!
