I purchased a Green Dot Visa in order to make an immediate secure purchase online, which the info packet claims can be done immediately after online activation. I took the info packet home and activated the account online. I was dumped out after activation without being given an expiration date or CVC; so I can't use the card until I get it in the mail, 7 days from now, which will be too late to use it as intended. I attempted to log into my account at www.greendotonline.com and was asked for my expiration date which I don't have. The status check option to login with the activation code says that my card is already activated and I should login to my account which I can't do because I don't have the expiration date. I called customer service which does not allow me to talk to a real person because my account is still being processed.
Either the folks running this company are incompetent or they are deliberately misrepresenting themselves in order to make money investing our deposits.
I will update this when/if I receive the card in the mail and try to use it for a case of cokes at the grocery store or something. I also intend to write to all the stores that sell this card and warn them that they are getting black eyes by supporting companies who misrepresent their products.
