Despite the fact that I am a customer in good standing, have made all of my payments in full and on time, Wachovia is still trying to rip me off.
Last fall I accidently made two payments and contacted customer service to ask them to not deposit one check. They refused, basically told me "tough sh—", so I had no choice but to put a stop payment on the check. Two months later they sent me a late notice for $25.00, but did not include any explanation what the charge was for. It was later that I learned this was their charge for my stopping payment on the check. Their customer service person never mentioned a charge to me.
Within a few days of receiving the bill the abusive, insulting, and rude calls from their collection dept started. I was accused of bouncing checks, asked sarcastically if I planned on making any future payments, and basically just completely and unjustly insulted by Wachovia employees.in addition, every time they called me the past due amount had increased!
I appealed the charge, but the abusive calls continued so I decided to end the problem by sending them a check. I mailed it by Certified Mail, the post office confirmed they received it, but they never deposited my check!
When I called the main customer service number they just cut me off, so I tried my local office in Boston and talked to a "Senior staff person" named Steve who was abusive, argumentative and stupid. He couldn't even retain the information from one moment to the next that the check had not been cashed. Needless to say thier response was "TOUGH SH—. So what if we lost the check you sent to us by certified mail, this is your problem not ours."
I am planning to sell my wonderful new car so that I don't have to deal with this horrible, horrible company ever again.
