Scam regarding order - Their Internet Ad is not true!

I placed an internet order for some pills. I was contacted two days later and my order was confirmed by "Alex" the Office Manager, he asked to charge my credit card, and I was told the order would ship and be here in approximately two days. A hold was placed on my credit card for a larger amount than the price of the internet order.

Five days later I receive a phone call from "Alex" at the "pharmacy" and he says my order lapsed because they could not reach me (He is the the same Alex that talked to me earlier, although I don't think he thinks he is dealing with the same customer). He tells me the FDA will not allow Visa or Mastercard charges for the pills and that I can make arrangements to send money, now $300 for 30 pills or $500 for 90 pills, they can have them delivered tomorrow.

I told him the internet ad was for $260 and if the order was not $260 and through my credit card that I did not want to place the order. Alex, said he was going to make some calls and call me back in ten minutes. I haven't heard back from him.

It all sounds illegitmate to me and as if they were trying to scam me to pay more money.
