Credit USA Unauthorized use of my Chking Acct Number / Tried to steal $149.95 / Abusive Service Charges

I thank Cheri sharp taylor for her complaint on this company. Before I read her report I had no idea how Credit USA got a hold on my checking acct #.
I too began applying for one of those Payday Loans. After two minutes I realized that, as broke as I was at Christmas, a payday loan was not a good idea. I aborted the web site before any amounts, arrangements, or signitures were given.

Two weeks later (12/28) my cking acct is severly overdrawn. I did not even have $20.00 when they tried to steal $149.95. ASB declined payment, after they charged me $28.00 for being overdrawn. I called Cust Service (#800) at the bank. They told me to go into the nearest branch, file the complaint, once the theft is confirmed my service fee would be refunded. I was told once the complaint was filed Credit USA would never be able to debit my acct again. When I got into the bank it was a different story. The teller had an attitude, assuming I was trying to duck an obligation. Because my account was overdrawn by the serv fee she would not even cash an $11.00 rebate check-on New Years Eve! I found out later that she could have reversed the fee pending the outcome of the inquiry, and cashed the rebate check for me. I told her that was all the money I had.

After going back and forth with Cust Serv I find out that the investigation was dropped because no money was paid to Credit USA. The bank won't reverse the overdraft fee because It wasn't their fault. They refuse to recongnize me as the victim.

Guess what happens next. Credit USA tries to send the $149.95 through again! This was 1/22, my financial aid came through and I had money. I got a little smarter and refused to put enough in the bank to cover $149.95, even though I WAS ASSURED CrUSA would never be able to debit me again. Now the bank is charging me three $30.00 fees for paying items that fell on an overdrawn acct because ASBank DID LET $149.95 through again.

Now I'm getting info from the bank about authorized payments, never give out your cking acct #, give them your debit card # which is easily blocked. Payments that are authorized are not bound buy date or amounts. Rules about overdraft accts, If it is not the banks fault they do not and will not reverse the charges. I would've been great to hear this when I opened the acct. Regardless, this does not apply to me. I did not authorize anything - I am the victim. They want $150.00 in serv fees which is about a third of my monthly income, because I too am on disability after working in distress for thirty years.
Have I contacted Credit USA? NO. What would I say? Stop trying to steal my money. Give me back the $150.00 the bank is taking from me, so I can survive this month.
I gave Target permission to take a minimum payment of $5.00 out of my cking acct. They took out $40.00 and left my acct in shambles. When I called Target I was told that they are only allowed to reverse two services charges per year, per customer, regardless of who is at fault. I don't do business with Target anymore. The money that they boast about giving back to the community is money taken from the community in the first place. The bank piled up serv fees of $160.00. I had to go into the bank after an intrusive medical proceedure, only to be treated with abuse and disrespect. I was on the brink of tears when the Cust Serv Rep decided to split the fee's with me. $80.00 is about a sixth of my monthy income. Do banks have quotas on serv fees? Are they making profits off of peoples hardships? Sure seems like it.

American Savings has flyers in their branchs advertising loans for college. I applied for and am receiving loan checks each semester. When I went in the bank just a few weeks ago, I got the same bad attitude and a refusal to cash the loan check! I didn't have enough to cover the checks. I told the teller as politely as I could, that these checks have American Savings printed on them and are advertised in this branch. She refused to cash it, and the supervisor refused to cash it. I had to drive accross town, in the pouring rain, to another branch, in a busy mall. Someone almost hit my car. Another teller, not only wouldn't cash my check, she told me to go to Payday Loans! Are they all in this together? No, just a coinsidence. The Cust Serv rep that treated me so badly with the Target issue was kind enough to authorize my checks and informed me that the tellers have no knowledge of the loan checks, even that they are guaranteed.

In this world of depleted morals and newer definitions of Customer Service, all I can hope is that my experience will help someone.
