I have three issues with this horibly place of business which is called 5th 3rd Bank!
1) I re-financed my house with these people who added over $7k to my loan with all thier fees!
2) I lost my job after 8 years and called them up to see if they had any kind of program or something that could help me stay in my house until I found another job or any information that could help? Thier answer: No, you have to pay your mortgage payments or the house will go into forclosure. Period! Well, of course this was not true - I had an FHA loan and HUD had a program that could actually lower your mortgage payments up to a year until you were back on your feet. Also, HUD had several options that could have helped my situation, but, of course I had to find this out after my house was going into forclosure and HUD could not help at the late date. HUD did tell me that my mortgage comany is required to give me this information... Required meaning what?
I have now lost my home after 12 years of payments! No thanks to 53 Bank!
3) When my house went into the forclosure process by 53 Bank, I found out again almost too late that I could possibly qualify for a "Short Sale" on my house which would not effect my credit but I would not make any money off of my home so who wants a Forclosure on their credit? I found out about the Short Sale from a realtor... Again not from the bank! I called the bank and they sent me the package to fill out and send or fax back to the bank. With this short sale package you are required to have credit counseling by an approved firm so I scheduled this which they could get me an appt on the last day I had to get the info turned in to the bank. I called the bank and talked with the "Forclosure Dept" left several messages for them and never a return phone call so I just kept trying and finally got a hold of the right person and I explained to her that I am applying for the Short Sale and have the packet all filled out and ready and will fax it to her when I get the form signed my the credit counselor... She said that they will give me a 10 day extension so the house would not go up forclosure... WELL a realtor I had been working with on the Short Sale called me the a couple of days after the extension I was given and said that my house had been SOLD. I called the person back and left numerous messages on what the deal was and what happened to my 10 day extension - she never returned my calls! I called HUD in Houston, TX and they got involved (very nice and caring and helpful!) and spoke with 53 Bank forclosure dept and the person who gave me the extension and was told that it was over her head that gave the go ahead to forclose my home. HUD tried to talk with them ect... To no avail. HUD told me if I had just got in touch with them sooner I might have had a chance to save my house and that the bank should have given me more info on HUD. Also, I did not have this 10 day extension in writing... Which when I was talking with the person at 53 Bank she said "I will update the system right now while I have you on the phone", unquote. I trusted her at the time to do her job. Very Bad Luck for myself and my family.
