Last year American Home Mortgage unjustly added 6 grand to my annual mortgage payment - this took 6 months to resolve while they earned interest on an increased 500 a month in the mortgage payment.
This year American Home Mortgage is trying to add a fake 3,000 charge to my payments increasing current payments by about 600 a month. I called in November to resolve this, and they said they would take care of it and of course, they did not. I just spent several hours dealing with them and threatening to sue them. I guess suing them would not matter since apparently they are closing anyway (see article). They say the issue is resolved.
Both times American Home Mortgage tried to charge me for what they called insurance on the property. Now I already have insurance on the property that covers the inside (through state farm) and the outside (through my townhome association).
The first time the charge appeared as "hazard insurance" on the mortgage statement.
This time it appeared as "condo" on the escrow statement - it's not even a condo! It's a townhouse.
Both times I was told they went ahead and sold me/charged me for their insurance! This was done without my consent.
Watch your mortgage bills and be careful about trying to resolve issues as quickly as possible!
