I brought my rv for service. At the time of making the appointment, i inquired as to the cost of some of the work, and was told certain prices.
While the rv was being serviced, i saw that the dealer attempted to charge me for repairs which i knew were not needed.
Eventually, the work was finished, and when i went to be checked out, saw that the price for the quoted work was significantly higher than quoted. I noted my objection on my invoice, and paid the bill with my american express card, believing the advertisements of american express, that they would resolve disputes between the card holder and the merchant.
I notified american express, sent them a ton of material, with the hope and expectation that they might investigate my claims of being over charged, maybe talking to the person who quoted me the prices. To make a very long story bearable, american express took the position that they can not or wont do anything for me, and i was compelled to pay the entire overcharged bill.
American express's CONSUMER PROTECTION is crap, and i do not need a credit card company that on one hand promises to protect me against unscrupulous merchants, and then when needed folds like a lawn chai
