I cancelled my auto insurance effective June 12. I had pre-paid for a 6 month policy. I received my cancellation letter in return within one week of sending my cancellation request. Now, 3 months later, I have not yet received my auto insurance refund. I have contacted the company at least 4 times via telephone to inquire as to the status each time I was told it was on its way any day. They even gave me an expected amount I would be getting and it should be sent out next Monday, etc. That was two months ago! I had my pre-paid legal attorney send a collections letter to this company with permission to contact me directly in this matter and they have not responded at all. That was August 21st. My last contact with them. I am tired of having to chase down my money - that I am owed! I am not a bill collector and it seems they know it too. They are taking full advantage. I also then received a collections letter from them for $0.00 stating that I had not paid enough money for coverage they had offered me during that time "in good faith" and that I should remit the remaining balance. I flipped! This was what led me to send the letter from my attorney. Do I have to sue these people? It's dumb. It's not even $200, but its $200 I need! I have requested help from the state insurance board to resolve this. Hopefully they will help me.
