I had auto insurance with Wawanaesa Insurance for over 5 years.
They are a little different in how they do insurance payments... I was set up to pay 40% up front & for the next 9 months I paid the balance, and have 3 months of no payment (cuz of the 40% to start)... This covers ONE FULL YEAR of auto insurance. This was really nice cuz there are 3 months of ZERO payments.
My insurance coverage with them was set to expire Midnight FEB. 19. I could not afford the 40% upfront ($700), so on the DAY of my expireation I renewed my auto insurance thru a broker (no upfront fee).
Prior to my expiration date (and the day of) with Wawanaesa, I called them & asked them to give the coverage amounts because I was going with another company because of the 40% and wanted to get an "apples to apples" coverage quote with a new company.
Immediatley following my insurance expiration date I received a Termination of Insurance letter, after that I received collection calls & notices saying that my coverage may have ended, BUT I STILL OWE THEM $260.
I have called Wawanaesa & they said its for coverage for the 1st months insurance. I told them I was covered with another company and they continue to send the outstanding payment bill for $260.
What a rip off.
