When I contacted them by email they were very abusive and said I deserved it

Look at the response I received when I requested for my refund:

Lending Tree referrals people to MORTGAGES, not personal loans!
Learn the difference.

The only fraud here is YOU, not following a simple policy.
If you didn't agree with our refund policy, why did you
request a search? Your bank is going to ask the same
question!

Who cares if a lender is free. You are not paying for a free lender. You paid
for a matching service. There is a BIG difference. NO wonder you are in
such poor fianancial shape, you can't even understand simple english.

It's going to be fun getting you FIRED from your job.
