In August of 1999, I switched credit card servicing companies. At the time I notified Merchant Services of my intentions, although I do not have a copy of the letter.
I know this is embarassing but we just noticed a $41 charge and realized that Mercant Services has still been deducting $41 per month even though there has been no activity. Monday I called them and faxed them a note asking for $4,018.
Today they returned my call and told me that they would stop the $41 per month deduction, but would only send me any credits if I have a statement from them confirming my request from 8 years ago.
Shame on me for not noticing. Hey, charge me for 6 months but after 6 months when the account has no activity should there not be some internal controls at Merchant Services to stop the $41 deduction.
