I have repeatedly told Citi Financial to stop calling me while off on STD. I was up front and honest about my temporary situation, and in return I was harassed non stop by your local office and your corporate office. Several contacts were made by BOTH offices in the same day, which is against Federal law, and was plain and simple phone harassment.
I do not need to be harassed about my bill, I know my obligations. I demand no further phone contact be made in the future, including my employer and my husbands employer, with the exception of legal action. Our employers do not tolerate these sort of phone calls. My husband isnt even on this loan, he was contacted several times (on his job) in an attempt to harass me into borrowing money from him to pay my bill.
We had at first considered refinancing my loan, so they wouldnt continue badgering me daily demanding a payment. My husband said he wasnt going to be cohersed into borrowing more money from them to make them stop calling. This was nothing less than strong arm cohersion. Not to mention they charge outrageous interest on that loan.
I paid my bill over the phone with the local office the day I got paid while on disability. I demand all harassing phone calls and letters cease, including letters from attorney Rex Kesler unless Citi Financial wants to file legal action. Only then do I need to be contacted.
In the meantime, I have a voice and it will be heard. I will tell anyone that will listen how I was harassed and kicked repeatedly while I was down. I am around debtors, defendants, patients, future borrowers everyday. I hate to think what tactics are being used on people that lost their jobs permanently and didnt purchase that worthless insurance Citi Financial sells. All my other creditors being "reputable organizations" with the unemployment insurance they sell, it is just that, if you are off work on STD, LTD, etc. The insurance pays your monthly note.
I was an excellent paying customer for a year, then at month 13 I became the target of a harassment campaign because I couldnt give a definite date of when I would make my payment. I made the human mistake of being off work on short term disability and not bowing down to big bad Citi Financial and their lawless collection tactics. My loan was one month late, and during that time frame I had 2 letters sent to me from the local office, one overnight letter, and a letter from an attorney threatening "self help" of the collateral involved.
Then there were a total of 103 phone calls from the local office and the corporate office. Citi Financial would call me on my job months prior telling me I had qualified to borrow more money, and if I borrowed more money, they would lower my interst rate. Like an idiot I fell for their trickery.
Thanks to Citi Financials reckless disregard to state and Federal laws, I have had to buy a new battery for my phone. I have also had to take off work longer than originally anticipated because of the stress brought on by the harassment. My others creditors are reputable law abiding organizations. I have already successfully diverted two new customers that were solicited by mail from Citi Financial, by telling my experience with them. I also advised them to read on the internet the complaints about them. Apparently the lawless collection tactics are notoriously known by doing searches. I started not to even pay when I got paid, just on principle.
Those aggressive loan sharks should think before they pick up the phone again to badger someone. I will never again bother telling them anything if my bill is late, it is late. It is my credit score, I pay their outrageous fees, for now. My priority for now is being a former customer of Citi Financial. Their reckless abandon of the laws is outrageous, aggressive over the top ridiculous.
