Wells Fargo Mortgage
We asked for a little help when my wife lost her job, we got runaround for months

We have a Wells Fargo mortgage. Last year my wife lost her job. We contacted Wells Fargo to see if there was something they could do to temporarily help us. We were given a phone number for Loss Mitigation and we called.

I explained our situation and the Wells Fargo representative seemed to be helpful and somewhat caring. She told us not to worry and she was sending out some paperwork to be filled out and returned. We received it, filled it out and sent it back. After not hearing for a couple of weeks, I called to follow up.

This started a series of "Groundhog Day" type monthly conversations with various Wells Fargo representatives. Each one seemingly concerned, each one starting over again from the beginning with the information and forms. This went on for 7 [seven] months. They would not accept any payments except for full due amounts even though we were told at least once to send in a regular monthly payment. It was returned about 6 weeks later.

Finally, I was able to contact someone higher up the corporate ladder and he said he would get to the bottom of this unfortunate adventure. He did call back within a couple of days and said all we had to do was pay about $24,000 and we would be all set. He even gave us 10 days to accept this offer which included a higher mortgage payment, like 2 times the original amount.

What started out as a request for help, lasting maybe 90 days turned into a 7 month nightmare that forced us into bankruptcy to save the house. Wells Fargo seems to have a structured procedure that forces people to bankruptcy or to lose their houses.

We are so disappointed to have been treated this way by a so called reputable company.
