I recommend to anyone who is considering Compass Bank to read this and unless you have an endless amount of money and you don't care if the bank takes it without any reason, find another bank!
Compass Bank charged us insufficient funds fees unfairly and unnecessarily. For example, we had funds in our account and made a transaction on a Wednesday, on Thursday @ about 6:00 we made another credit transaction (not debit) knowing a direct deposit would be made on Friday and the vendor would not be able to process the charge before Friday. None of the charges actually posted until after the direct deposit but Compass Bank saw that the transaction was made on Thursday and since the Thursday transaction was more, put that amount thru first which caused the Wednesday transaction to also bounce.
How is it fair to a customer for a bank to see that a larger transaction was made which could potentially make the account go negative and then process the larger amounts to cause more NSF charges when there were funds in the account to cover the initial expenses???
Then to make matters worse, when making a deposit a week later they placed a 2 day hold on check. This bank has the worst customer service skills. It's like that Capital One commercial, the bank from the dark ages that finds every way possible to charge fees unfairly / unnecessarily!
We have already opened a new account with another bank, although our new bank does not offer free ATM's, we will save more and will be able to use more of our money. I wish I would have never opened the account with Compass Bank, they have caused more anger than any bank is worth!
