I applied for a Citibank checking and savings, The wesite promised no fees or monthly charges, a great interest rate and a $100 bonus for starting the accounts; I verified all information on the telephone with representatives and then with a supervisor. I am now being charged a $12.50 per month maintence fee, have not received the $100, and am not receiving the promised interest rate.
When I called and read the origninal agreement to them from the citibank website, I was told that my applications were done separately and in order to qualify, all needed to be done on a single application. I told them that I applied for both on the phone at the same time and gave them the name of the supervisor, Lionell, who accepted the application. The Citibank representative, told me it was not done correctly and wanted to know where Lionell worked? She sarcastically said she never heard of him and he could work in New York, Georgia, Atlanta, or India. She said I was misinformed and their was nothing she could do.
Citibank advertises great rates and incentives for their accounts but then does not honor them and blames the customer.
