Credit Acceptance Corporation
This company billed me for a vehicle that I no longer owned!

I bought my vehicle in July.in August, a driver ran a red light and slammed into the side of my car breaking both axles and completely totaling the vehicle. My insurance company handled my claim quickly. They declared the car totaled and had me sign off ownership.

To my surprise, credit acceptance corporation deducted a car payment for the month of September. I didn't even own the vehicle anymore! I used every method available to sort this out with them, but they were incredibly uncooperative.

October came and they deducted my car payment again! I discussed the matter with my bank and was informed that the only way to stop them from deducting the payment was to stop authorization of the deduction. This cost me forty dollars a month for THREE MONTHS altogether.

Meanwhile Credit Acceptance was calling me nonstop telling me that i owed them money. I explained over and over that i didn't own the vehicle, but they became more and more abusive. At one point, a woman lauged at me and hung up. The calls came non-stop all day long. I spoke to managers, supervisors, you name it; but the deductions-and the calls, would not stop.

I contacted a lawyer and the local media regarding the situation and amazingly the situation was suddenly solved. I received an email from the company apologizing for the mistake and a refund for the unlawful deductions.

Regardless of the fact that the situation was resolved, this was five months worth of headache that was completely unnecessary. Also, i was never reimbursed for the $120.00 that i had to pay my bank to put a stop payment on my account for three months.

I would never, under any circumstances, use this company again for any reason.
