In January I paid a collection agency for a Verizon phone bill that I had failed to make good on. I still have the letter from the company acknowledging receipt of my payment. About a week ago, I recieved a collections notice from AFNI that it is in my best interest to settle a $634.60 Verizon debt. I immediately attempted to call them.
After two hours of busy signals, I got on the internet to look up an alternate number and to my surprise I found numerous postings discussing AFNI's unsavory reputation.
I plan to send the certified letter asking them to validate my information immediately. I am frustrated that this matter could re-surface after I paid this debt. Also frustrating to me is how/why would my account have gone to a second collections agency anyway?
Thank you for allowing me to vent and most of all thank you for the valuable information obtained through the reading of the various post.
