Afni, verizon communications fraudalent collection notice from verizon communications ripoff

I received a Collection Notice from Afni, Inc, a collection agency, stating I owed $1513.79 to Original Creditor - Verizon Communications for a phone # listed in Irving Texas (a city I have never lived in).

To start off, I have never had any type of services from Verizon Communications. Second, I have never even laid my feet in Irving Texas. Why would they even bother to harass me.

When trying to contact Verizon, I find out that AFNI does the collections for them. Smells like fraud. AFNI purchases old debts & then tries to collect.

I have filed complaints with the FTC & the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. I did follow the advice of NOT contacting the collection agency. Should I still request a Verification of Debt from them even though I have filed a complaint with the FTC & BBB.

Let's stop this AFNI company from ruining our credit.
