Company claims laptop stolen with important family ID on it Ripoff

My mother recently received a leter from Boeing. Staing that an employees laptop was stolen out of his car. With unencrypted files with personally identifiable employeee data, including that of your deceased family member.

To protect against any potential fraud we suggest you contact Experian... And release the following information

1. A copy of the family members death certificate.
2. A copy of the certificate of appointment.
3. Order from the probate court of Letters Testamentary
4. Please include the deceased persons Social Security Number, address at the time of death, date of birth, and full name, including middle initial and, if applicable, generation like Jr. Or Sr..

The address they want us to send this information is
Experian
PO Box 2002
Allen, Tx 75013

I feel this is a scam to steal my dead fathers ID. He had good credit and we feel this is a Rip Off... Can anyone help us understand if this is for REAL.
