I received a letter from a company by the name of Scott Lowery Collections.
The letter stated that they were retained by an original creditor and they wanted to collect $1000.00.
The original creditor was owed about 400.00 dollars.
This account was charged off by the original creidtor in June.
I would pay my bills but the original creditor said they charged it off and no longer handled this debt. That was told to me by the original credit card company in Dec. I checked my credit report and it also stated that this debt was charged off in Dec.
After reading about this company on the rip off report, I fear a law suit or worse a judgement.
One week after I received this letter. They have called my house at least 6 times a day!
Do I call them, do I send them a letter?
Should I expect a process server at the door?
I have never had anything like this before!!!
