Plains Commerce Bank - Total Card
Non-Authorized Charges & Overlimit Fees ripoff

I located Plains Commerce Bank through a search on Yahoo. I was seeking a credit card to rebuild my credit; instead I received a card that would drag me deeper into debt.

I have only had the Total Card for almost 3 months. The first problem came about when I mailed in my payment using a personal check. When I viewed my account online, my payment had posted; and my account balance and available credit had been updated. When I tried to use my card, it was declined.

I called customer service and I was told that it takes 14 days for a payment to post. I was also told to pay my bill online at MYCCPAY.com or mail a money order for faster processing. I made 2 payments by check and it was over 20 days before they posted.

The last 2 or 3 payments that I made were by money order, and I am continuing to have the same problem. Not only, do I not have any money on my card, I have been charged an overlimit fee of $25.By the time my payment posted and interest charges applied, it was a new billing cycle and now I'm over the limit.

I had really wanted to pay it off and leave the account open, because I wanted it to look good on my credit report. I decided to pay the card off and cancel it, because I'd rather it look paid off and closed, than over the limit and negative.

I look at my account daily and each day the balance changes. I have been paying on the card and I haven't been using it. A few days ago, I had $36 available on my card. The next day it was $19, and then, it was $0.

Two days ago I had $0 available and the balance was $251. Tonight, I viewed my account and I still had $0 available, but the balance owed is $285.94.

I called Plains Commerce and once again I was told that my payments have not posted. One payment for $35, and a payment of $10 by money order on 11-17-06. I spoken to a representative at Plains Commerce and he stated that they had already told me that there was a 14 day waiting period on checks. This is 12-1-06 and these payments were sent on. I told him that I had sent money orders and I had the copies of my payments.

The representative refused to acknowledge that my payments were made by money order and that the had posted. If the money hasn't posted and isn't available, why do they update the account information on the website?

I told the man to cancel the card and give me a final balance owed. Then, he asked if I wanted to speak to a supervisor who might could help me. I told him to just cancel the card.

I haven't even had this card for 3 whole months. It probably will hurt my credit more than help it.
