This is not the first time it's happened. I called immediately when I saw overdraft fees on my account, but could not track where and what they where actually posting the overdraft charges to. Someone at the banking center gave me answers like, "I can't really explain how..." or "All I can tell you is that if you balance your check book...". Well, thank you BB&T for trying to help me balance my check book. That's really thoughtful of you. I would clearly understand an overdraft fee being applied, if I could see it posted to my account but this is what I was told:
"BB&T charges an overdraft fee for any monies that may leave your account - even - if only in a pending or holding state. If the monies are removed even into a pending or holding state, the bank has every right to charge your account a overdraft or non-sufficient funds charge."
Hmm... So even though, you, BB&T are not paying the vendor for the transaction (which is why you would charge ME an overdraft fee - right? For having to pay for something that I did not have???), why am I getting charged a fee? This in my opinion is a huge bank error causing BB&T to profit off of thousands of people who may think, "I can't get to the bank right this second, but I'll deposit cash first thing in the morning." BB&T says well the money left the account, but I was clearly told that though the money is removed from an account, the merchant still doesn't get paid until BB&T receives the paper transaction. SO WHY, BB&T ARE YOU CHARGING PEOPLE FOR SOMETHING YOUR COMPANY HASN'T EVEN HAD TO PAY FOR!!!
Last week, Apple put a hold on my account for 124.00 and charged my account 105.00 and 18.00. This was for an IPOD that I had purchased. Well because Apple put a 124.00 hold on my account... Let me make this clear - Apple did not receive this money and this transaction never posted to my account... Several items on my account were charged overdraft fees, amounting to 374.00. I by no means am rich. I did not know there would be a hold on my account. When we went to BB&T to find out the problem, they told us we had to talk to apple and as soon as that money was realeased from hold and then put back into the account, they would refund the fees. Well, Apple released the hold the same day. A week later, we're wondering why our fees were not refunded to us??? We were told that corporate denied our request, stating it's not a bank error and we needed to seek retribution from Apple. Ok... Do they really think Apple is going to pay us. How marvelous a bank that is really concerned about their customers that they won't refund money that was clearly an error on both parties???
DONT BANK WITH BB&T!!! THEY'RE ONE OF THOSE STEAL FROM THE POOR - HELP THE RICH TYPE OF BANKS. NEVER -NEVER - NEVER was our, their customer's well-being ever put into action. Well thank you BB&T for showing the world that 374.00 is more important to you than the human lives of people living in the state you so righteously exclaim to serve. You're a bunch of fascist mongruls that won't get away with the way you're banking. I've banked with B of A, Wells Fargo, and Capitol City and not one of these banks have ever done business the way you do. The scandalous charges of overdraft fees are going to come around to bite you all right in your%!
