In July I received form Chase a promotional offer for a credit card that allows me to accumulate points redeemable at a popular hotel chain, also they offered a low 3.9% rate for the 1st 6 months. And since I travel often with work I said why not and took the credit card.
For some reason I never received a billing statement in August, which I noticed when I was writing all my bills one day late August or early September. I called them right away to find out why. During that call I was informed by an extermely representative that I was already late with my payment.
After making a peyment over the phone and explaining again to the rep. That I never received a statement he was kinf enough to tell me that he would gladly take off the late payment and refund the late charge.
Today I noticed that my rate increased to 18%, I called them and I was told that because of that late payment they increased my rate. I went over the whole history again, however I was told in plain English that they could not anything.
I am really upset with them and I would like to find out if that's common practice on their side, hoping that people will be late and as a result they don't have to honor the low rate.
I will add the fact that I have perfect credit.
