In Jan. 02 card was cancelled due to poor customer service and refusal of the on duty supervisor to take my call. I had been trying to contact a supervisor and discuss my situation.
On 12/7/01 I was informed that I have an illness that I would eventually die from. I returned to work after only four days of given this devestating news. As time progressed I sank into a severe depression and eventually went on complete disability as of 2/15/02. I contacted Cross Country Bank and asked if because I had cancelled the card if I still had the insurance protection on my account. I still had a balance owed so I thought I should still have the coverage. I was informed by the Rep. That I did not have coverage.
Over the next two months I struggled to make two payments. I was not getting paid from my job, but only from State Disability, and not much to live on. So when I would be called from the company I would give them a payment by phone.
The end of April I noticed an Insurance charge on my statement. So with some research was able to track down the insurance company's telephone number. I contacted them and was told I had coverage the entire time. Since then its been a battle to get the insurance form for disability. The Collection Dept continues to call daily. I tell them they will be paid from the insurance company retroactive from 2/15, but that does not satisfy them. They demand money from me which I just don't have.
I was in the process of filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau when I came accross some upper management names. I contacted one of them, Mr. Dennis Fish, he stated upon his research that my account had been credited all late fees, and my name removed from the dialer so that I would not get anymore calls.
As of today 6/7/02, I continue to get harrassment calls from Cross Country Bank, and have sent them (faxed first) my doctor's information on my illness. Everything required, but I still get calls.
I don't know what to do at this point. I have placed calls to the Manager Mr. Fish, but he does not return my calls. This stress is making me more ill every day.
