I applied for a loan through Credit and was contacted by a William Sullivan at Freedom Financial Investment Group.
He stated that I was approved for my loan and that they'd fax me documents to this effect. This was done and, according to the documents, I was to supply a "good-faith payment" of $607 to secure the loan.
This was done online via Westernunion. Mr. Sullivan said that there would be a problem with my having done it online and it would take a few extra days to get my loan wired to me because of it. I never heard from him again.
Rather, I was contacted by Andy Campbell who stated that they believed that William Sullivan may have absconded with my funds, but since they had record of my having sent it, everything would be fine. He then said that the documents sent weren't correct and my total payment should have been $1214, so another $607 was neeed. Fool that I was, I sent it.
Mr. Campbell stated that because the first funds were sent online, they'd have to issue a refund and then I could resend the funds to them. He also stated that I could go ahead and send the other funds to cover the remainder of the security deposit while waiting for the refund. I said that I couldn't do it at that time and would do so the following Wednesday.
I said this so that I could see if I'd actually get a refund, which was to be in my possession in 5-7 days from when the refund was promised. This was to be the following Wednesday since I'd spoken to him on Monday.
So, Wednesday came and no refund. Mr. Campbell called me to ask what I wanted to do with the loan. I said that as soon as I get the refund, I'll go forward. I also said, by the way I think you guys are really in Canada, not Colorado.
Their telephone number hasn't been working and I've not received anything. My family is in dire financial straits right now because of this, along with some other decisions made based on the promise of this loan.
Do not ever go for an advance-fee loan or service. A real, reputable company won't ask for these things. Also, I've filed complaints with Minnesota, the Feds, Canada and will be filing with the State of Colorado as well.
