Write down (and keep) any person you talk to. When, date, persons name, which city etc. And if you called them or they called you (yep that's funny, they call to resolve) Ask if they work at Citi. They outsource a lot. Most companies do.

Ask specifically what you need to do to resolve things. Also ask should that not work whom do I need to talk to? (Leave sentiment out of this)

Endless collection attempt - do a computer search for your state on how frequently a company may call you regarding a debt. Know that. Knowledge is power

Payment arrangements make sure you ask to get any arrangements in writing. That protects everybody. If you are really behind ask when is the first payment due? Also ask is the payment plan includes the current payment?

Call the main # and ask for Escrow. They can't do much to help. But they do know important phone #'s and heads each department (mortgage only) Ask for the # and put it with your info) Ask them very kindly to transfer you. Be polite and say thank you. Don't even say a word about your situation. Just get the information you need. For car credit cards etc ask for credit protection department. Do same thing

Consulting an attorney - hopefully you won't have too but be brief on your situation What outcome you want. Write down any questions. Bring that to the consultation (most are free for the 1st visit) Even if you pay you are getting your dollars worth. Write down what the attorneys say. Stick to the advice they give. When you speak again inform the person that you have consulted an attorney. Be honest you want to work out what is fair to them and you. Give them the attorney name & # so they know you are serious.
