I closed my checking account with Chase. A week later, Chase allowed a withdrawal from my CLOSED account! Now they are demanding I pay them back! My money had already been withdrawn, my account was closed AND I had already moved to a different bank! I filed a claim with the Fraud Department and they have assured me that I owe Chase NOTHING ($0)!!!
But the Collections Department insists otherwise and have me reported both to CHEX Systems and another Agency in an attempt to recover monies that THEY paid by mistake! Please help! The girl in the Fraud Department has done all she could. There is NOTHING that I can do to convince them that I do not owe that money! I am a paralegal at a lawfirm, but am hesitant to bring this to one of attorneys in my office. However, I am prepared to do so, as they are threatening to ruin my credit!
Any ideas? Please help?
