So we have had used Compass Bank now for over 2 years. We have had nothing but severe problems with them!
First we opened the account and were told that about their practices on holding checks and not depositing them into the account for 3 business days to ensure that the funds were available. Not a problem at first because we had Direct Deposits so they went directly into the account. All though they didn't tell us that if we made a purchase the same day of the deposit or direct deposit and didn't have the funds that they were going to charge us $36.00 for every accoutn transaction and then tell us that we had insufficient funds.
We were hit with fraud last year, when we were trying to rent our property. Compass Bank seemed to have a good fraud department, but aparently they have nothing to do with the banking. We were stuck with over $1000 dollars in debt of charges that were fraudulent and had to pay for all fees after depositing 2 fraudulent checks. We are still paying every month to payoff that debt! They closed our account and moved just myself over not my husband and they said they refused to put him back on while he was in Iraq because he had to be present to be put back on the account. They stopped accepting checks with his name on them even though I had a Power of Attorney.
Since January we have assumed over $2000 in NSF charges for Compass's mishaps and fraudulent accounting practices. We have deposited checks that they have held for no reason. We are currently almost negative $1000 because the Bank can't add, and when we have approached the bank to take a calculator and add up what their computer does right, they refuse to. We added all of our debits and credits from when we opened our account and we should have over $2000 in our account that they have strategically misplaced.
We are fed up with the fraud, the accounting practices that are not legitimate, and the constant wasting of our money.
