My husband and I have been banking with a wonderful bank, Mission Federal Credit Union, for 12 years now have always been delighted with their service. Recently we moved from San Diego to the Palm Springs area and were forced to open a checking account locally. We chose to open our account at Washington Mutual and have been dissapointed ever since.in 12 years at Mission Federal we only become overdraft one time, since we have started using Washington Mutual we have been overdraft at least one time every month.
First I am very dissapointed that they do not post atm/check card payments in a timely matter. The post times vary from 1 hour to 2 weeks, Mission Federal always posted them almost instantaneously. This I can't understand because Mission Federal is such a small bank in comparison to Washington Mutual, one would think that Washinton Mutual would have better technology.
I can't understand why I have paid over $700 on overdraft fees this year alone when I had never paid one cent in 12 years with another bank. I started looking at my statements over very carefully and it almost seemed like the bank did not post transactions until it would spiral me into overdraft heck. I started to wonder if I were crazy so I began to research the subject; here, with friends and on other websites and I have found a pattern of complaints similar to mine.
My husband and I make a very handsome income and I have had one checking account or another for 32 years consecutivley so hopefully that will stop others from posting snide remarks as to my level of intelligence and/or income.
I would like for anyone who has similar issues with this or any other bank to reply to this post, any other remarks will not be appreciated.
