I was a student at ITT Technical Institute (a trade school) and graduated in Sept. 2003. I went from there to a Private Technical University. During my years in school I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. I was not having any problems but felt that life should go on and not to dwell on what might happen.
Into my second year at the university and doing well things changed.in Dec the MS is starting to progress and I am having trouble remembering notes. Grades are going from straight A's and on the Dean's Honor Roll to C's and D's.
I decided it was best to drop out of school since things were drastically changing. The only problem is that I have loans to pay back and have every intention of repaying. I was sent the loan discharge papers for my neurologist to fill out but decided not to after receiving phone calls from Sallie Mae twice an hour from 8am to 10:30pm.
I know this is harrassment and wrote letters to Sallie Mae asking them to please stop calling so much. Their calls have been timed as close at 10 minutes apart. They don't stop. They sent me a letter back stating that they can basically do what they want because they are under federal guidelines. They said they don't have to stop calling.
I have filed reports with the FTC, etc. No help from anyone.
I tried to get an attorney who said there is nothing they can do to help me but said "just don't answer the phone". This is getting annoying because my mom and I are unable to sleep. I sleep often during the day because of chronic fatigue amongst many other symptoms.
Every time Sallie Mae calls is does not come up on the caller ID. What does come up is WCC. I have no idea what this stands for. Other times it comes up as Unknown Name or Unknown Caller and no number at times. Most are 866 numbers.
Since this mess has started it is stressing me out. Stress plays a major roll in MS symptoms and its progression. I don't answer the phone since I have talked to them numerous times and usually get nowhere. I don't know what else to do about Sallie Mae.
