Received letter from Cavalry Portfolio Services saying they had purchase for collection and account from AT&T Wireless that belonged to me. Said I owed $370.14 for an account opened in June. I have never had an account with AT&T wireless nor have ever had any contact with AT&T wireless about this account. I called and complained to Cavalry and they sent me a Fraud Statement of Dispute form to fill out including requests that I send copies of my SS#, Drivers License, etc with the form. Also checked my credit report and found that somehow they are showing up on my credit report as an account under collection. Again nothing form AT&T has ever showed up on my credit report. Luckly I did an internet search on complaints against Cavalry and found this website with numerous complaints against them
I have written them a letter back requesting that the info be withdrawn from my credit report as well has filing complaints with the FTC, Florida Attorney General and the New York Attorney General.
WHat else can I do and how long is it going to take to clear up my credit report
