After paying $640 per month for 5 years to Portland Teachers Credit Union (now OnPoint) we decided to payout the last $2,000. We spoke with Sandra and explained that our intention was to payoff the car this week.
About 4 years ago we filed a business related bankruptcy and our bankruptcy. We reaffirmed our obligation with PTCS and continued to pay our car payments ontime for 4 years. Last week they repossessed our 1999 Suburban without a call or any indication that it was coming. We were 5 days late on the payment. We called Sandra S. While the tow truck was in our driveway and tried to give her a check by phone or credit card over the phone. She refused, saying they don't take those. My son Joel who works at a local pizza place said his pizza place takes credit cards so it is crazy a bank cannot do it.
She told us, because we had filed a bankruptcy 4 years ago, they have the right to repossess the car at anytime without notice. So we paid them over $40,000 over 5 years. We are five days late on our final payment and they repossessed it. This is so unfair that it hurts to retell the story. We could have walked away from our obligation when I went bankrupt. But we did not.
They were very, very unfair and unfriendly with us. I will tell everyone I know this story in the hope that OnPoint grows a heart.
