My husband opened a business March. He was contacted by Northern Leasing on 4/22/04 regarding leasing equipment from them. He was told the lease was for one year. Since my husband had another appointment to get to, the rep told him to sign his name and the rep would fill out the rest and get him a copy. He signed the one-page blank equipment finance lease agreement (actually since the account the funds were to be debited from was in my name, he signed my name on the lease). He was told he would receive a copy soon.
My account was debited beyond the one-year agreement. I contacted Northern Leasing via email on June 3 to see why the debit was still taking place and was emailed back a sentence stating the lease expires on 4/22/08.
My husband was told this was a one-year agreement. When we requested a copy of the lease be mailed to us, we received an additional three pages that wasn't shown to my husband upon signing the lease. Also, the agreement was signed by Northern Leasing a day after my husband signed it. I can't make out who from Northern Leasing signed the lease because the name was stamped followed by VP.
I sent an email to a rep at Northern Leasing who basically told me since my name was signed to the lease, this made me financially obligated. I have paid over $1400 for a piece of equipment that is worth less than half of that. Just today I filed an online complaint with FTC.
