Capital Financial
Ripoff, Capita Deceit, scammers

I fell for the scam when they called me. My husband and I had bad credit due to the fact that I gave birth and had not returned to work, many of our credit card bills were not paid.

I had gone back to work, started paying some credit cards and wanted to see my credit report so I applied for a credit card (thinking that I would be denied and would then get to see my credit report for free instead of having to pay $14.00) I was approved.

I got the call from Capital Financial about 2 days later saying that I was approved for a credit card for $2000.00 and all I needed was to give them a deposit of $200.00. I thought that it was capital one with a different offer and I thought it was great.

The rep said that they wouldn't charge anything to my account until I signed their form and sent it back to them. I said ok.

As days went by I wondered where my card was. I was planning on buying my sons clothes.
On the 12th of May (while banking online) I had seen my checking account was debited on the 8th of May. I received their letter on the 16th of May stating that I would receive their card once I signed the form & sent it back 2 them. I noticed that no where on that paper was a "visa" or "mastercard" logo. I immediately became suspicious and kept reading the letter over. It also mentioned something about 35% down on items purchased. I wanted to cancel this immediately.

Something told me this was a scam at this point. I came online, went to a search engine and entered capital financial. I saw usacomplaints.com and quite a few stories about this (capital financial) company. I read them all and knew I had to take immediate action. I called my bank, explained to them my situation (that I thought it was a credit card and so on). My bank rep told me that I will receive a refund of $200.00 within 5-7 business days.

I asked him if I needed to fill out any form, or go into my local branch. He told me no, just dispute a charge (which is what we were doing over the phone). I asked if I should close my account and open another one. He told me no, but to keep an eye on my accounts. If they should charge my account again, then yes, but for the mean time not to. I will keep you posted on my situation.
