Ripoff account paid showing on c/r as owing money

I had a chargeoff with nextcard about 4 years ago. They agreed to a settlement of a certain amount. Now 4 years later it is showing up on my credit report that i still owe them money. What kinda of ripoff people are they. I know that they went belly up because of the way they conducted business but enough is enough. Please can anyone help me with this. I need to get this off my credit report. I am trying to buy a home and it is not helping me. Thanks
