In 2001 I had accumulated a $4,000 Debt to Providian and was paying on time and at the limit. I lost my job.in I signed up with a Debt consolidation on the internet. I don't remember their name. I had a difficult time finding a job. Soon, I couln't pay even the lowest amount. Then, I lost my home and me and my 3 kids slept in a small trailer in the streets.
I ended up moving to Texas with a job lined up that only lasted 5 months. Since this bill, I moved 5 times and didn't know how to contact this company. The bill from Providian went to a collection agency, then another. They offered me a deal to pay $3,000-twice. I couln't pay it in a lump sum and again was jobless. Now, this bill was handed over to Wolpoff & Abramson, LLP and they also wanted a lump sum. There is no one to talk to from there company and they don't offer a website to go to, only a site for payments and nothing else.
Now, I'm being sued and they label it like they are partners with Providian. I did some research and found that they pay pennies on the dollar of what I owed and Providian has washed it's hands of it. I don't feel I should pay these dirty lawyers what they are asking-$5325!
I also heard from a lawyer that this agency messes up peoples credit even if they pay the debt. How can I get from under these wolves?
