I received the nasty phone calls for months, with no proof from Midland regarding the "Action Card" I supposedly had with them and for an alleged purchase that I had made years ago for a product I don't have from a city and state that I have never visited.
The threats about my credit report continued and the "tone" of the calls escalated each time as they tried to get me to verbally admit to owing them money and agreeing to pay them.
The calls stopped when a supervisor agreed to verify my address and social security number and full name... NONE of which were correct. The middle inital was not mine, the state was not mine, and the social... Not even close.
I thought it was over...
Months later I received a "settlement opportunity" statement at my home address. The name still isn't fully correct, but they must've done a search to find my name. The offer is the same: "If we receive payment by 05-05 in the amount of $931.44, we will consider the account balance paid in full!".
A 50% bargain off of a debt that I never had to begin with! What a deal!
I do not intend to pay them a penny and sent them (via registered mail) a letter of demand requiring strict proof of the alleged debt. If they cannot meet the requirement they have been informed to Cease and Desist.
I also have contacted the big 3 Credit Reports about this company.
Will keep you posted... I am sure this is far from over.
