I need some help here and it seems I came to the right place judging from all of you that have already written.
Midland has been on my husbands tail now for 1 1/2 years. Ill start from the beginning. We had a credit card that we paid off before it went into collections fast frward thru the last 6 years we have been contacted by 5 collection agencies and after giving them proof I paid for this debt Midland got a hold of it and has been harrassing us and is now threatening law suits. I have just got finished reporting to the credit reporting agencies that this is a paid debt and have the cancelled check (Oh yeah Midland wont take it as proof its been paid) Now today the phone call from their alleged lawyer telling me Ill see them in court. What can I do I have reported to the FTC that doesnt seem to help what can I do to get someone to listen?
Oh and another thing Midland did they reported a bogus debt under the heading of "Medical" to my husbands credit report for the exact same amount and exact account number. Whats that about anybody know?
