I am a holder of a Greendot Financial Prepaid Credit Card. I usually use it to pay bills online. I had a merchant take the card and decline it when there is more then sufficent balance on it. He ran it through twice. I check my balance later that day and there were two authorazations on the card for the same amount from that merchant. The merchant did not receive their money though.
I called the 800 number on my card (customer service) and they said it would be a $10.00 free for an authorization reversal. He said it takes time to contact the merchant. I said if I get the merchant to fax over document saying that they are not collecting the fees, then how long? He said it will be avalible by 5:00 PM. Never thought twice about it.
I went on 2 days later, still not back in my account. I called again and they said "Oh he lied to you because it takes 15 days no matter what." Unless you get the package to pay $10.00 then it is 3 - 5 days. Well 3 -5 days later and still dont have my money back. They have also charged me over $25.00 in fees to talk to them on the phone.
Also, if you have this card, call up and ask to speak to a supervisor, you cant. I would like this to warn anyone that if you get this card, they do not follow their own cardholder agreement. You will also get charged a boat load of fees. I am taking them to court now and will let you know how it turns out.
