Ripoff pay off balance in full by due date get ANOTHER BILL IN THE NEXT STATMENT

I wanted to pay off my Circuit City balance, due March 20-I always pay it at the store, and paid it on the 19th in full (I thought)-the statement said I owed a specific amount (over $3000.00) and I paid it-seven days later, I received my statement saying I owed an additional $52.00-the explanation I received from Chase (they do Circuit City billing) is that my statements do NOT include interest for the billing period in which I receive the statement-hence the $52.00 charge. If this is true, I guess their statements are NEVER accurate, since they do not REALLY reflect what is owed-how can they do this??? Why are they allowed to do this, and if I pay this $52.00, is there an interest charge coming on my next statement for this so-called 'unpaid' amount??? I can't trust an operation that doesn't seem to want to allow you to not have a monthly 'debt' owed them-anyone else experience this? In researching this, I have found that Chace does not have a very good reputation with consumers, now I think I understand why-they have a problem keeping their hands out of your pocket, it seems.
