Having done a diligent internet search for viable and legitimate "at home work" I thought I had found promising employment as a customer service representative through WEST. I had never heard of this type of "work from home" before but it seemed promising.
I invested many hours of my time learning their system and passing tests for their certifications. I committed to scheduled work hours and upon my very first shift had an extremely rude awakening as follows.
After being plugged in and ready to receive calls for 15 minutes without a single incoming call, I called their "PAL" work assistant to inquire if perhaps I was not properly connected to their system (as no calls had come in).
It was at that moment that I discovered that it was entirely possible that as a WEST Work At Home Agent I could work all or any of the scheduled hours I had committed to without receiving a single call. Since you are paid by the minute for actually receiving and processing calls this was devastating news to me.
NO where throughout WEST's detailed training was this fact mentioned or alluded to in any way. I had easily assumed that since the work shifts were either 30 or 60 minutes long that I would be engaged in call taking while working these scheduled shifts. If I had known initially that massive, idle, non-paid time was involved I would not have wasted a single minute of my time pursuing a position with WEST.
I was appalled by this revelation and also felt like an idiot for falling prey to WEST's scam.in my mind the omission on the part of WEST to not explain this very integral detail is more than gross misrepresentation it is plain exploitation.
