Yesterday a man supposedly named Adrian called my daughter's brother in law (a person I have only seen twice, about 5 years ago, currently living in Virginia) and left an answering machine message that I needed to call him (Adrian) right away.
This morning my estranged mother (in Ohio) called my sister, hysterical, telling her this Adrian had called her and told her I was in jail (I wasn't) in Illinois. I have not talked to my mother for over 10 years and she has changed her name from her married name/my maiden name during that time. How Adrian made these connections is unclear, but I cannot believe he has used legal means to do so. However the real issue is the lie about me being in jail.
In addition to those two calls, Adrian also called my son (also with a different last name than mine) at his office this morning. He used my son's last name, saying that I had personally given it to him (which I had not). When my son pressed Adrian about how he knew his name he hung up on him.
I happened to visit so my son called Adrian back and handed me the phone. Adrian identified himself and when I asked him why he was calling he kept saying "Hello? Hello? Hello? As if he couldn't hear me. Then he hung up. My son called back and the manager answered the phone at Adrian's extension. She refused to tell me why she was calling and then hung up on me.
This company is listed on the internet as a debt collection service and that is what what he told to my daughter's brother in law but Adrian nor his manager would verify that. As of now, I have no idea what they are really calling me for.
