Went to Debtxs, had to pay $2,700 first, before they would start working on our accounts (it was a payment plan, but it was still $2,700). We were told NOT to speak to our creditors/collection agencies. But to write them a letter telling them not to contact us. We were also told to keep calling to let debtxs know when we had enough money in savings to start the settlement procedure. We saved $7,000 and called debtxs, they said, "no problem". Next thing we get a summons to court we're being sued! Call debtxs... We'll transfer you to our legal department... We can help you for $150... Fax us the paperwork... Hmmm, we called the lawyers and you should pay this, or go to court if you want to. What king of advice is that? Next month, got another court summons, saved myself the $150 legal fee, and paid up (the only smart thing I've done so far). I've called Debtxs, and asked to talk with the settlement person, the response is always, "Well, you can leave a message". Apparently they are always working on my accounts, and something is just around the corner. Well, I just got another summons yesterday... Guess what I'll be doing?
I think that Debtxs just takes your money, and waits for the companies to sue you. If you are in way over your head, just call your creditors and tell them you can't do it. Ask for a payment plan. If this is what I had done I could have used the $2,700 to pay off bills, and my credit would not be as bad as it is today. Debtxs screwed me!
Debtxs is a LIAR when they call themnselves a debt settlement company, I had to talk with creditors/collection agencies/lawyers when I was settling. When I told them I was working with Debtxs I was told either, "Never heard of them", or, "We don't deal with settlement companies".
When I asked Debtxs for a refund I was told, "We'll review your case", what's to review? You didn't do anything, except steal my money when I was down and hurting. You should change the company name to "Crooks and Theives".
