I fell behind in my payments to Mervyn's therefore they sold my account to a collection agency. When I received the letter from the collection agency I settled with them since Mervyn's was longer interested in me. This happened in Nov. 2001. Then lo and hehold in Dec. 2001 I began to receive calls and letters from a second collection agency. It seems that Mervyn's was covering all their bases and sold my account to two (2) different collection agencies. I have sent copies of my settlement letter with PBC the collection agency I settled with to NCO Financial Systems on at least 4 different occasions and the letters still do not stop. I called Mervyn's to try and verify that they were notified of the settlement, but was given the run around by their credit employees. No one in their collection dept. Works in the evening, the telephone numbers they gave me the first time were wrong, I have had to call back twice to verify telephone numbers and cannot get an honest answer out of anyone. It seems that once Mervyn's milks you dry they keep trying for even more.
